This is about me....Saugata!

Indian by nationality, born (1977) in city of Ranchi, state of Jharkhand (erstwhile state of Bihar) in a joint family. Grew up under the care of grandparents, who instilled the right values. Bedtime stories told by my grandmother from the great Indian epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata), the Puranas (ancient texts of learning), and  Bhagavad-Gita (Hindu equivalent of Bible or Koran) introduced me to the great culture and rich past India had. The curiosity developed towards Indian philosophy and philosophers, saints and religious teachers continues even today as  I try to read (and hopefully absorb) more of the treasures that India was. My family (especially my grand parents) has a great impact on what I am today.

Did my schooling from Ranchi. My secondary (Xth grade) was from DAV Public school; founded on the values of mixing Indian tradition with modern education. The values and training I got there have strengthened my base for future. Passed my senior secondary (XII grade) from Guru Nanak School.

The education scenario of Ranchi (then part of Bihar; going thru separate Jharkhand state agitations) forced me to shift to Bangalore (capital of Karnataka and cyber capital of India, needs no more introduction for global audience). I completed my Graduation from Bangalore University (Graduated with Computer Science major). Completed my Post Graduation (MBA) from ICFAI Business School, Bangalore (specialized in Systems and Marketing). I have undergone additional training on networking (Cisco CCNA) and teaching/pedagogy (European Case Clearing House) while working.  I am also pursuing my PhD (part time) from ICFAI University in the area of Knowledge Management.

Started my career as a Faculty Associate in ICFAI Business School, Bangalore (IBSB). worked for 36 months teaching and guiding students, developing courses and courseware, managing academic and technical infrastructure including library and computer labs. Under my guidance the library and lab emerged as one of the best in Bangalore (among Business schools). I have always believed that management students learn the most when they go out of classrooms; testimonial to that--under my guidance IBSB emerged as the best in Bangalore and around in student activities. After IBS I joined as an Assistant Professor in IBAT School of Management-Bangalore campus, Business School of KIIT Deemed University. Presently working as a Business Analyst in e4e Inc. I report to the President helping him and the senior management in strategic decision making and formulation of business strategy. My work involves but not limited to scanning the market for opportunities for related diversification, new business lines, competitor analysis etc. My vitae is available in downloadable form.

I like reading; all types of books. For professional development books in area of management and technology; for personal development books related to philosophy (mainly Indian), spirituality, autobiographies of management gurus and other great people from all walks of life. A list of my favorite books can be found in my interests page, and the faculty/student zones.

My other interests include traveling; traveled across India from Himachal (up North of India) to Kerala (down South in India), Darjeeling (deep East) to Goa (in west). I love mountains, hence try to travel to hill stations whenever feasible. Looking forward to opportunities to travel abroad as my occupation permits or personally as my finances allow me. While in my native city of Ranchi, I used to do a lot of gardening with seasonal flowers and decorative trees. Now life in bigger metros do not permit me the luxury of owning a garden, so the hobby is in sleep mode.Text Box: "Exert your talents, and distinguish yourself, and don't think of retiring from the world, until the world will be sorry that you retire."
